The thigh and knee area of chainsaw trousers suffers the greatest wear. We have reinforced this area with Armortex a new fabric which is reinforced with Kevlar. Armortex is flexible, extremely abrasion resistant, tear resistant and water and dirt repellent
The SIP 1SPU Chainsaw Trouser is the most revolutionary chainsaw trouser ever produced by SIP Protection.
The Freedom trouser has significant advantages over other trousers, they are lighter, cooler, more flexible, thinner and more comfortable.
A flexible outer material gives greater freedom of movement, higher levels of comfort and reduces strain on seams prolonging garment life.

The SIP 1SPU chainsaw trouser conforms to EN381-5 Class 1 type 'A', but has additional protection around the back of the lower leg. This style of garment offers the best compromise of safety and comfort and gives the tree surgeon tremendous freedom of movement when climbing
Chainsaw protection trousers are defined by EN 381-5. There are three types of leg protection:
Types A and B are intended for professional chainsaw wielders during usual wood harvest duty. Here, chainsaw protection is primarily limited to the front side of the legs.
Type C is to be employed by persons who usually do not use or are only expected to use chainsaws under exceptional circumstances.
Here the protection covers both front and rear side of the legs.
Chainsaw protection trousers are divided into 4 classes -
Class 0 - 16m/s
Class 1 - 20m/s
Class 2 - 24m/s
Class 3 - 28m/s
How Does Chainsaw Protection Work?
Chainsaw protection trousers protect you from leg injuries.
In the highly vulnerable areas of the front part of the legs (i.e. from the ankle up to the hip) chainsaw protection trousers are equipped with a layer of loosely woven, very long, subtle and tear-proof fibres between the exterior and interior layers of fabric.
Upon contact, the chainsaw cuts through the outer fabric and winds up the protection layer of loosely woven fibres, entangling the drive wheel of the chainsaw and thus blocking the device within split seconds.
